DRONES!
Have a look at my drone prior to the rebuild. This was after its first big flight. I was able to fly it for a total of about 20 minutes of air time. All three of my batteries drained, and it was a lot of fun. I flew it at outside of work and attracted a bit of a crowd. I'm not comfortable enough flying first person view (FPV) with a bunch of people (obstacles) around so it was mostly line of site. I did let them look through my goggles which everyone seemed to enjoy. Since the flight I've gotten some extra parts so I will be putting on a better camera and some new antennae for the FPV signal.
Take Aways
- Need more batteries. This was the limiting factor in how long I was able to fly. Its a 3s battery so it shouldn't be too hard to find some more. Charging will be a pain so I should probably look into a better way to charge them.
- Need more propellers. I stared out with 16 and I'm down to 6. I need to find a place to buy in bulk.
- FPV screen. I get stupid when I put on the goggles. My control goes and it is surprisingly hard to keep track of where it crashes. I hope a screen will give me the experience I need to actually gain skill without crashing as much. Also the signal isn't particularly stable so a better antenna would be helpful.
